Charitable and
Educational
Trust Commission
The OSIA Charitable and
Educational Trust (a section 501(c)
3) is an affiliate of the Massachusetts
Grand Lodge, Order Sons of Italy in
America. Established over a quarter
of a century ago the Trust is prepared
to assist others through contributions
to educational, charitable, cultural
and disaster relief efforts.
Each year through the State
Scholarship Program, established in
1955, the Trust recognizes and awards
over 40 outstanding high-school seniors
who are planning to further their education
at an accredited four-year college
or university.
The Trust also generously
supports youth programs helping less
fortunate children through community
centered youth programs such as the
Boy's and Girl's Clubs of America.
Thousands of Trust dollars
have been contributed to numerous charities,
the Cooley's Anemia Foundation, Alzheimer's,
Casa Monte Cassino, Don Orione Home,
Breast Cancer, National Law Enforcement
Officer's Memorial, Children's Hospital
and many more.
The Trust provides critically
needed relief aid to the victims involved
in both National and International
disasters.
The Trust is comprised
of eleven trustees who form its Board
of Directors. Nine of the trustees
are appointed by our State President
and approved by the Grand Lodge Council.
The State President and the State First
Vice President by virtue of their office
hold the two remaining seats.
The Trust continues
to hold statewide events such as the
annual Walkathon in support of its
fundraising efforts. Through
member, corporate contributions along
with memoriam, estate and perpetually
established scholarships, the Trust
further seeks to obtain additional
funds necessary to further its objectives
and respond to the numerous requests
that come before the commission.
